This summer, I am pleased to announce I will be hosting two separate opportunities for central PA kids to come out and get creative with fiber arts! Both workshops are titled “Print, Pattern, Sew” with one being hosted by Perry County Council of the Arts (June 19-23, 2023) and the other being hosted by the Susquehanna Art Museum (June 27-30, 2023). Each workshop is an opportunity for kids from 9-14 to try their hand at several fiber art techniques over the course of a week-long camp.
The Print, Pattern, Sew Workshop will explore several techniques commonly used in textile craft to create various surface, stitched, and woven designs on fibers. Students will experiment with creating nature-inspired prints using cyanotype dye, resist printing, and found object stamping in the “print” portion of the class. Students will have the opportunity to explore repetitive stamping, screen printing and abstract ink application techniques in the “pattern” portion of the class. The “sewing” portion of the class will include learning basic weaving and hand stitching techniques to create several projects. The final products of the class may be used to create wall-hanging display pieces or made into several useful items, such as a notebook cover or snap pouch as time allows.
Plan to join me at the location most suitable for your area and schedule. Click on the photo for a link to book the classes. I look forward to getting creative with area students this summer. Let’s make some art!!
