I designed this super scrap buster pattern in January 2021 out of a need to use up and play with my mega scrap pile. I find so much joy in using up some of the smallest bits of fabric I simply can’t seem to throw away and figured I can’t be the only one. Primary Prairie is a pattern to show off and use up not only those little squares, but also fun feature prints in the central block of the design.

Using a classic four-patch and large central plus as the basis for the large blocks, there is plenty of opportunity to get creative with the overall design and feeling of your quilt. Primary Prairie assembles quickly into one of the four sizes included in the pattern, helping you create a handmade crib/baby, throw, twin or queen quilt quickly.

An exclusive video link is included in the purchase of the PDF pattern where you can join the artist to sit, sew and talk about the pattern, design, creativity, and inspiration. I will loosely walk you through the pattern as we discuss tips, tricks, and best practices for quilting. Here is a quick video I made which I think summarizes the pattern experience.:

In the future I plan to offer more video content for newly released patterns as well as patterns past. If you are interested in more learning opportunities with me, take a moment to sign up for the La Rue de Fleurs’ newsletter and studio file to be notified of those opportunities as they arise. Some content will continue to be published for free here on the blog and on YouTube, with additional more detailed paid class offerings in the future as well.

The Primary Prairie Quilt is near and dear to my heart and combines my love of pattern play possibilities, large feature prints showcase opportunities, and the ability to use up plenty of scrap fabrics. I hope you will enjoy creating your unique handmade quilt with the pattern as well.
